10. Temporary Foreign Work Permit: Global Talent Stream

You might think this doesn’t deserve to be on the list because it doesn’t technically qualify as immigration to Canada because of the temporary status you’ll receive, but hear us out.

Obtaining a temporary work permit can take anywhere from 4 to 6 months, depending on your nationality and where you are applying from.

And, with as little as 6 months of work experience, you can apply for permanent residency through programs.

For example, the Saskatchewan Work Experience Stream, which is particularly useful if you work in one of the following industries:

  • Long Haul Truck Driver;
  • Agricultural Sector;
  • Health Sector;
  • Hospitality Sectors

Other options include the Express Entry-managed Canadian Experience Class, which requires one year of work experience in Canada to qualify for permanent residence.
